Students give thumbs up in celebration of teachers’ achievements
05/05/2016

The graduation ceremony of the Jockey Club School Football Development Scheme was an exceptional and joyful occasion this year, as over 100 students from 11 secondary schools and six primary schools celebrated the achievements of their teachers, crying out “well done” at a ceremony held at the Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village.

The kids all knew how challenging it was for their teachers and school team coaches to complete the eight-month training course jointly offered by The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Manchester United. As in the past two years, the programme was brought to a close with a two-day football training camp at which a graduation ceremony was incorporated as the finale.

A total of 42 teachers and coaches from 17 participating schools received certificates that marked the successful completion of their training, which was made up of theory classes in four modules, on-pitch practical drills, and regular campus visits by the Hong Kong Head Coach of the Manchester United Soccer Schools.

First launched in 2014, the Scheme has so far partnered with 42 schools from around Hong Kong; trained more than 80 teachers and coaches, and reached over 630 students. The next round of the programme will begin in the fall.
