Trophies presented to winners of Jockey Club Homeless World Cup (HK) fund-raising tournament
20/06/2017

Playing football can promote social inclusion for the socially deprived. Last year, the Club's Charities Trust granted funding of more than HK$5.3 million to Street Soccer Hong Kong to run the Jockey Club Community Soccer for Hope project for three years.

As part of this project, the Jockey Club Homeless World Cup (HK) Fund-raising Tournament 2017 took place on 17 and 18 June. Funds raised will pay for the trip of the Hong Kong team who will participate in the annual Homeless World Cup in Oslo, Norway in August.

Through the Jockey Club Community Soccer for Hope project, the Trust hopes football can serve as a platform to promote social inclusion and encourage participants to take control of their lives. It is anticipated that the project can engage more than 3,000 participants in its tournaments, among  whom over 750 are socially deprived.

The Trust has been placing a special emphasis on the charities strategic focus 'Sports for All', launching various sporting initiatives targeting different segments of the community. It aims to make sports fun and accessible to all, and encourage all citizens to take part in sports and build a healthy lifestyle.
