Jockey Club supports Hong Kong Games to boost "Sports for All" culture
01/08/2017

To help promote a "Sports for All" culture in the local community, the Club was once again this year’s principal contributor to the Hong Kong Games, the sixth edition of which took place from 23 April to 28 May.

Launched in 2007, the Hong Kong Games is a major biennial sports event that gives amateur athletes from all 18 districts of Hong Kong more opportunities to participate in sports events, exchanges and co-operation. This year the Club’s Charities Trust donated HK$7 million to support the Games. In addition to being principal contributor, the Club was title sponsor of the Jockey Club Vitality Run and futsal and basketball competitions. Badminton, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball also featured in this year’s Games.

Sport is one of the Charities Trust’s strategic focus areas, through which it aims to promote active participation and sportsmanship, making sports fun and accessible to all. The Club will continue to promote local sports development by funding major recreational facilities and supporting sports projects that can create lifelong positive values and hopes. Through supporting the Hong Kong Games, the Club encourages all citizens to take part in sports and to build a healthy lifestyle.
