JCECC mini-movie to enhance public understanding of end-of-life care
15/11/2017

What would you do if you only had three months left to live? How would you spend the last precious moments with your family? In response to the growing concern on the provision and choice of end-of-life care (EoLC) in the community, and to improve the quality of related services, the Club’s Charities Trust has initiated the multi-disciplinary and cross-sector “Jockey Club End-of-Life Community Care Project” (JCECC) in collaboration with two universities, five NGOs and the public and private healthcare sectors.

The Project has recently produced a mini-movie called “My Little Story with Mom”. It is a story about a daughter (played by Catherine Chau) and her terminally-ill mother (played by Susan Shaw), illustrating how mutual respect and effective communication allow the mother to have dignified, peaceful moments at her final stage of life, and also spend precious time with the daughter. The full version can be viewed at: www.JCECC.hk/mimv.

Under the three-year JCECC project, five service models are being developed and piloted to provide holistic EoLC support in the community to elderly people suffering from terminal illnesses. There are also professional capacity building and public education programmes. For details, please visit: www.JCECC.hk.
