Since it came into operation in 1998, Tai Po Hospital has provided a full spectrum of assessment, extended care and integrated rehabilitation services. In 2015, to provide a safe and better environment for the psychiatric rehabilitation of patients, the Club’s Charities Trust approved funding of almost HK$40 million for the Hospital Authority to build the Tai Po Hospital Jockey Club Integrated Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre. Following the conversion of an open garden at Tai Po Hospital, the centre has now been officially commissioned.
The additional space not only enables various training and support programmes to be provided, but also facilitates more family visits, thus improving the quality of patient care. Just as importantly, it provides a more friendly and tranquil environment for the patients. Patient attendance at the Centre has exceeded 8,500 since its initial services began in April last year.
