Jockey Club supports redevelopment of Heep Hong Society Integrated Service Complex to offer wider range of rehabilitation services
17/03/2018

An inclusive and mutually-respected society can help people with special needs bring their talents into full play. With this in mind, the Club’s Charities Trust has worked closely with different community partners to promote social inclusion, and has supported a wide variety of services.

In 2014, the Trust donated over HK$25 million to Heep Hong Society to redevelop its Catherine Lo Centre at Sandy Bay, Pok Fu Lam, into an Integrated Service Complex. The Complex was officially opened on 17 March, offering a range of training and support services for children, adolescents with special needs and their parents.

The ten-storey Integrated Service Complex, with a gross floor area of about 4,300 square metres, offers valuable new facilities such as the Jockey Club Hydrotherapy Pool which provides children with special needs with training and exercise to strengthen their muscles, increase their tolerance to exercise, and enhance their body balance. Others include the Jockey Club Supportive Learning Fun World and Parents Resource Centre which offers support services for parents to enhance their capacity for coping with child care difficulties; the Jockey Club STAR Café and Community Support Centre which provides social and prevocational training for adolescents and youth with autism and related disabilities; and the Jockey Club Sky Garden which creates a green space for planting and inspirational training.

Over 2,500 children and youths with special needs, their parents and family members will benefit each year.
