The Club joined hands with Heung Yee Kuk to organise the "Mural Painting in Rural Villages" Programme, with an aim to promote distinctive and traditional rural culture and buildings in the New Territories to the general public through mural art.
The kick-off ceremony of "Mural Painting in Rural Villages" Programme was held on 6 October 2018 at Heung Yee Kuk Building which is located at Shek Mun, Sha Tin. Officiating guests included the Club's Executive Director, Corporate Affairs Raymond Tam, Chairman of Heung Yee Kuk Kenneth Lau and Director of Home Affairs Janice Tse. In the ceremony, the guests put a finishing touch on the mural at Heung Yee Kuk Building which signified the completion of the first mural painting. The programme would then be extended the rural villages in the New Territories.
The mural painting at Heung Yee Kuk Building involves a lot of traditional cultural elements including big bowl feast (Pun Choi), dragon boat festival as well as distinctive buildings in the New Territories. The Club's volunteers not only contributed in giving ideas for the mural design, but also took part in the painting workshops in which they all had so much fun.
