Peter Schmeichel talks more than just football

Manchester United Legend Peter Schmeichel is also a father. And although he grew up in Denmark, which has a comparatively less stressful educational environment, he has a pretty good understanding of the high expectations parents have of their children. While pushing kids to succeed may work in some situations, Peter is quick to point out that in others, it may not be suitable. His son Kasper has inherited his father’s talent and is a renowned goalkeeper in his own right. Is this because of his father’s influence and guidance? Let’s hear from Peter himself!

Peter’s Golden Rules for fathers:

  • Avoid putting your own expectations on your children
  • Recognise the importance of having fun while learning, and of nurturing their passion
  • Teach your children that setbacks and frustrations are inevitable. Teach them to accept and enjoy the process

Let's listen to Peter use football training as an example when sharing with Hong Kong parents.
