Do you know what "eating late night congee" means?

In Hong Kong, most people know that the Cantonese expression “eating late night congee” means that you know Kung Fu. Have you ever wondered how these two completely separate actions became linked?

It’s said that people in Hong Kong in the 50s and 60s worked during the day and then at night would go to learn Kung Fu at martial art schools located on rooftops in the hope of defending their homes. After practice, the master’s wife and young girls in the class would make congee for all of the students. They would then gather over a pot of congee and have some fun. So as time went on, the saying ”eating late night congee” became synonymous with knowing how to do Kung Fu.

Martial arts are good for maintaining health. Of course, you no longer need to go to rooftop schools! Let Master Chow introduce you to some martial arts exercises; get up and experience it!
