What type of body constitution is most prevalent in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong’s climate is very hot and humid, and research has shown that most men in Hong Kong have a “damp-heat” type of constitution (according to Chinese medicine theory). This means they may have oily skin, acne and bad breath, and can also easily become fatigued. The following are some common habits that could cause one to have a “damp-heat” constitution, so take note if you’d like to see improvement!

Points to note about “damp-heat” type:

  • Avoid fried, fatty, cold and raw foods
  • Do more exercise to eliminate the damp-heat from your body through sweating
  • Maintain regular bowel habits
  • Avoid cold situations

Women, especially office ladies, who suffer from cold hands and feet often have “Yang deficiency” constitutions. Let’s check in with Dr Yang Jun Jun, Lecturer I, Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University and see what suggestions he has for “Yang deficiency” types.
