How to calculate your ideal exercise intensity and duration?

The Government encourages the public to “exercise for half an hour daily” to boost our physical and mental health. Nevertheless, each person has a different tolerance for exercise intensity. Take a medium-intensity sport like badminton or bicycling as an example – the heart-rate-per-minute (HPM) is about 20 to 60 beats higher than usual. Professional fitness trainers suggest that you should evaluate your physical fitness beforehand, and monitor your own breathing during exercise – for example by talking to others – to calculate the exercise intensity and duration that are suitable for you.
