Freestyle football: more than just tricks!

Some people think that freestyle football is only good for street performances and isn’t a “real” sport. In fact, freestyle football isn’t just all for show; it can significantly improve performance on the field! Freestyle football tricks can help to enhance ball control, ball sense, and physical coordination; and this will help in real match situations. Many players in countries where football is well-established know how to do basic freestyle tricks, and they integrate it into their training. It’s a great way to keep up their skills!

Traditional football tends to concentrate on training the legs and feet. Freestyle football, due to extensive use of the upper body for support and control of the ball, can strengthen and promote upper body muscle development, as well as enhance flexibility and balance. But note that the waist, neck and knees can be easily injured; so it is recommended that beginners practice on flat ground that is free of obstacles.
