Since 2011, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has been supporting the "HKFYG Jockey Club Hong Kong International a cappella Festival", which uses the power of the human voice to develop the creative potential of young people. Now in its seventh year, this annual music event has been expanded to include the wider community. A new addition this year has been the “a cappella camp”, which gives young people of different musical backgrounds the rare opportunity for mutual exchange and sharing. Don’t miss these incredible a cappella performances – mark the date!
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is the Major Sponsor of the “HKFYG Jockey Club Hong Kong International a cappella Festival” which encourages young people to interact with and learn from their overseas professional counterparts. Within a few short years, the programme has allowed many local musical groups and student performers to learn new singing techniques, while giving outstanding performers the opportunity to come together and perform on the same stage.
This year’s featured programmes include the “2017 International a cappella Extravaganza”, “The HKFYG Hong Kong Melody Makers – Viva la Vida” and the “a cappella Master Series: Club For Five”. The festival has invited many overseas groups to Hong Kong, including Drums of War from Australia, Acapellago from the Philippines, and The Techtonics from the UK. Plus, the Melody Makers and the trainees of the HKFYG Jockey Club a cappella Education Programme will be on stage to perform for the audience.
Invited to perform as part of the “a cappella Master Series” is Finland’s famous a cappella quintet, Club for Five. Rooted with a Nordic scent, their jazz and pop music bring pieces of Helsinki with them. The icy cold winter and the haunting landscapes of the North translate naturally into beautiful and harmonious jazz performances.
If you love music, you won’t want to miss being a part of this incredible series of exciting events with your family and friends!
