This year’s event also marks the first time that the HKJC Girls’ Community Cup will be held between Chelsea FC Soccer School (HK) and Citizen. What’s more, Champion Jockey Joao Moreira and senior football commentator Peter Wong are back with their jockey friends and Hong Kong football legends in the Exhibition game. The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a long-time supporter of local football development. For the fourth consecutive year, it is sponsoring the Hong Kong Football Association-organised Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup, an event that marries football with community engagement. Last year, more than 4,400 people attended the game, which was a record high.
In addition to the prize money, the Club will also contribute to the community by making a donation to charities nominated by the two teams competing for the Community Cup, Kitchee and the Eastern Long Lions (HK$100,000 to the champion team and HK$50,000 to the runner-up team). All of the other eight teams of the Hong Kong Premier League will also benefit by sharing in the HK$300,000 provided by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup.
For the first time, the HKJC Girls’ Community Cup will be held, between Chelsea FC Soccer School (HK) and Citizen, which will allow the girls to display their best.
This is the second time in the history of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup that the two teams, Kitchee and the Eastern Long Lions, will meet. It will also mark the second time this season that these two powerhouses will face each other. Evenly matched, it’s sure to be an intensely exciting and competitive event!
Another match you won’t want to miss is the second annual Exhibition game that will see Champion Jockey Joao Moreira, senior football commentator Peter Wong and other famous jockeys and football legends from different generations compete against each other in two mixed teams, namely Joao and Friends and Peter and Friends. The Exhibition game will last 35 minutes.
To make sure everyone can share in the excitement, professional commentators and the HKJC Junior Sports Reporters will join forces in presenting live webcasts.
