Since 2012, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has fully supported the “Jockey Club Youth Football Development Programme – Summer Scheme" that is organised by the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA). Through systematic football training, young people aged 4 to 17 can experience the fun of football, and more local elite players can be developed and trained.
The "Jockey Club Youth Football Development Program - Summer Scheme" is sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by the Hong Kong Football Association. It is the largest youth football programme in Hong Kong. Since the summer of 1971, young people in Hong Kong have been recruited to participate in football activities that are coached by qualified coaches provided by the Hong Kong Football Association. The training and materials provided by the Association enable the young players to master basic football knowledge and technical skills.
This year's Summer Scheme will be held from July to September for young people aged 4 to 17. There will be 10 lessons, two each week and each lasting for one hour. The programme also features a number of small-sized matches to enable participants to accumulate more practical experience and cultivate an attitude of “sportsmanship”, “teamwork”, "enthusiasm" and "persistence".
