As the Official Community Partner of the Volleyball Nations League Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has joined hands with the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China to support the Jockey Club Community Volleyball Programmes. These will enable students, the underprivileged and the differently abled to experience the excitement of volleyball, including during the world-class tournament itself.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was held today (11 June) at the Hong Kong Coliseum and attended by HKSAR Government Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing, Vice Minister of General Administration of Sport of China Liu Guoyong, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR Pan Yundong, HKSAR Government Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Lau Chun, Club Steward Dr Silas Yang, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China Timothy Fok, President of Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China Wilfred Ng and other guests.
Sports & Culture is one of the strategic focus areas of the Club’s Charities Trust, through which the Club contributes to the betterment of our society. In recognition of the Club’s support, Club Steward Dr Silas Yang was presented with a volleyball signed by players from the China women’s national team by Wilfred Ng, President of the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China.
