Hong Kong Palace Museum Ground-breaking Ceremony
29/05/2018

Back in December 2016, the Club’s Charities Trust announced its support for the establishment of the Hong Kong Palace Museum with funding of HK$3.5 billion.

The project reached another milestone on 28 May with the ground-breaking ceremony, officiated by Club Chairman Dr Simon S O Ip and Deputy Chairman Anthony W K Chow; Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Carrie Lam; Director of the Palace Museum Dr Shan Jixiang; Deputy Director-General of State Administration of Cultural Heritage Liu Shuguang; Chairman of the Board of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Henry Tang; Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong Palace Museum Bernard Chan and other guests.

Many cities worldwide have their own signature museums, and the Hong Kong Palace Museum will underline Hong Kong’s status as an international cultural metropolis. It will enable citizens to visit and appreciate long-term exhibitions of national treasures, and also promote Chinese culture to overseas visitors.
