Club supports Hong Kong Flower Show for 7th year to bring floral displays to the city
15/03/2019

The annual Hong Kong Flower Show, organised by Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is open to the public between 15 and 24 March in Victoria Park this year, carrying the theme “When Dreams Blossom” with the colourful and exuberant Chinese Hibiscus as the theme flower.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Club’s Charities Trust is supporting the Flower Show with a committed donation of HK$6.65 million to support six related educational initiatives, namely a Mosaiculture Display by Students, a Student Drawing Competition, a Transport Subsidy Scheme and Guided Tours, a Flower Replanting Scheme, a ‘One Person One Flower’ scheme and a Community Green Playground.

In total, the transport subsidy scheme and guided tours are benefiting some 31,000 elderly people, disabled groups, students and disadvantaged families.

Visitors can appreciate a rich profusion of exquisite potted plants, beautiful floral arrangements and gorgeous landscape displays by organisations from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas. They can also visit the Jockey Club Community Green Playground to enjoy family activities and understand more about the conservation and appreciation of nature through experimental learning.

To foster awareness of the importance of environmental protection and greening, an initiative called “Give the Flowers a New Home!” Jockey Club Flower Replanting Scheme allows schools, environmental groups and non-governmental organisations to collect the potted flowers remaining at the end of the show for replanting.
