Jockey Club Specialist Out-patient Clinic opens at MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre
08/05/2019

In view of the increasing demand for rehabilitation services in recent years, the Club’s Charities Trust has provided funding of over HK$20 million to the Hospital Authority to set up the Jockey Club Specialist Out-patient Clinic at the MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre (MMRC) in Pok Fu Lam.

The Clinic, managed by a cross-professional team from Queen Mary Hospital and MMRC, provides one-stop, multi-disciplinary services from assessment and therapy to pharmacy, thereby smoothing the medical consultation process and benefiting elderly and disabled patients. It is expected to serve 1,000 outpatients in the first year.

The cross-professional medical team managing and providing services at the Jockey Club Specialist Out-patient Clinic comprises orthopaedic and traumatology doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiologists and pharmacists.

Departments originally located at different areas of the nearby Queen Mary Hospital are now concentrated in one clinic. Patients can be arranged according to their clinical needs to receive appropriate treatments, including health education, nursing care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or X-ray checks, with follow-up consultation by doctors.

As assessment, check-ups, treatment and pharmacy are all conducted on the same floor, medical consultation procedures can be simplified and patients’ waiting time shortened.
