On 19 June 2022, 20 CARE members took part in the Tree Planting Day at Yuen Tun Country Trail in collaboration with The Green Earth, with the aim of enhancing the biodiversity and ecological values of plantation in Hong Kong.

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has launched the “Country Parks Plantation Enrichment Programme” in 2009. Major measures include thinning of aging exotic tree species, planting of native tree seedlings and post-planting maintenance.

Different from typical tree-planting activities, all procedures were conducted in the existing woodlands. Therefore, CARE volunteers needed to hike for a certain distance through the forest to the planting site before they could begin planting. Under the guidance from the Green Earth, CARE members played their part in environmental protection by planting over 100 saplings. The event was no piece of cake under the hot weather and heavy rain, but CARE members all agreed that it was a meaningful and unforgettable experience.
