“Give Me Five” Programme Delivers Love and Care to the Community for the Tenth Year
03/06/2023

The CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team supported "Give me Five” Programme organised by the Hong Kong Women Development Association (HKWDA) for the tenth consecutive year. The programme kicked off in January and over 120 CARE volunteers participated in visiting around 400 households of singleton elderly and senior couples residing in Tai Po, Sheung Shui, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai and Tsing Yi. Through home visits and distributing goodie bags with hand-made gifts and daily necessities, volunteers sent care and support to the elderly and the families in need. In addition, the CARE Hair Cutting Team was invited to provide complimentary hair cutting service for the registered elders at HKWDA centres and send their best wishes to the elderly.

The programme concluded in June with a closing ceremony held on 3 June 2023 at Choi Yuen Hall in Sheung Shui. Officiating guests included the Club Executive Manager, External Affairs (Government & Community) Freely Cheng, Vice-Chairlady of HKWDA Ng Shan-shan, CEO of HKWDA Tse Wing-hang Steve, Tuen Mun District Councilor Lai Ka-man, Social Work Officer (Planning and Coordination) of Social Welfare Department Yung Chui-yi and Liaison Officer (Sheung Shui Town) of North District Office Chen Yiu-ying. During the ceremony, Vice-Chairlady Ng expressed her appreciation for the support from the Club and CARE volunteers by showing care and support to the elders throughout all the years. CARE volunteers were awarded certificates of appreciation from the officiating guests in recognition of their concerted efforts in the community. Following the completion of the ceremony, a physical fitness coach led officiating guests, volunteers and the elderly in a towel exercise for good health. All participants enjoyed this session, which marked a successful ending for the programme this year.
