Tai Kwun's participatory programme Open the Box returns for the third time, inviting visitors and artists to co-create a living, evolving work of art.
Event details
Open the Box is an innovative participatory programme that takes place every summer at Tai Kwun Contemporary, featuring collective works created by artists, visitors and participants in the gallery.
Titled Pleasant Place, this year’s programme invites participants of all ages to co-create a paper canopy that evolves over time—formed by multi-level suspended clusters that together become a shared, collective landscape. Visitors can wander through this forest-like environment, moving beneath and around floating foliage while actively contributing to the work’s growth. Through workshops, they create clusters of leaves, vines or abstract terrain fragments, assembling small landscapes that reflect their own interpretation of a “pleasant place”.
Together with The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Tai Kwun aspires to contribute to a culturally vibrant Hong Kong, amplifying the city’s role as a thriving arts and cultural hub in the region and the global arena.
