A big week for philanthropy in Asia: Events, insights, and a new partnership
This week, Hong Kong has been at the heart of global philanthropic dialogue, headlined by the AVPN Global Conference 2025 and the event’s host partner, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The Institute of Philanthropy (IoP) led a series of engagements across the city.
On Monday, we convened the Commission on Asian Philanthropy, bringing together 13 leading foundations to explore bold new models for giving across the region. Commissioners also spoke on a featured panel at the AVPN Global Conference, sharing early insights from our collaborative study on philanthropic growth in Asia. Read more about their insights
Tuesday marked the release of a new report from The Bridgespan Group, spotlighting trends in corporate giving and the evolving role of business in driving social impact. The findings offer a fresh perspective on how Asia’s corporate leaders are aligning strategy with purpose. Read the report
IoP also hosted its closed-door Foundation Circle workshop, gathering senior foundation leaders for candid dialogue and peer learning.
During this flagship event, we announced our research partnership with the Marshall Institute at the London School of Economics. This is the start of a wide-ranging partnership, commencing first with research. The initial research will explore philanthropy’s role in financial hubs and global systems, offering a glimpse into the future of cross-border giving.
What this means
This week’s events reflect a growing momentum to build stronger, more connected philanthropic ecosystems across Asia. From convenings and research to strategic partnerships, IoP is proud to help shape the future of philanthropy—one conversation, one collaboration at a time.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to share insights and opportunities to engage.
