The Hong Kong Jockey Club provides palliative and end-of-life care services in the community. We offer holistic support to the elderly, enable them to make informed choices about their care preferences, and educate service providers as well as the public on related care.
Ensuring quality end-of-life support for the elderly
Hong Kong’s population is rapidly ageing, resulting in an increase in the number of terminally-ill elders. Due to the growing demand for end-of-life care services, the Jockey Club End-of-Life Community Care Project was launched in 2016, aiming at improving the quality of end-of-life care, enhancing the skillsets of service providers and caregivers, as well as raising public awareness on the importance of related care in Hong Kong.
The project brings together multiple disciplines, institutions and sectors to integrate Hong Kong’s social and medical systems. We develop service models to offer holistic support such as end-of-life care to terminally-ill elders in the community and elderly homes. Our goal is to enable the city's older people to make informed choices about their care preferences, so they can have a better quality of life during their sunset years.
