“Basketball Commentary for New Talents” is an extension of the JC Junior Sports Reporters Programme, offering basketball enthusiasts aged 18-35 or aspiring commentators professional training and hands-on opportunities in basketball commentary.
The course includes workshops where an experienced basketball commentator shares commentary techniques and insights, a FIBA-accredited referee explains game rules for five-a-side and three-a-side basketball, and a coach break down tactics and techniques to enhance participants' understanding. Workshops also feature simulations for hands-on practice. Additionally, participants will gain real-world experience through live online commentary for local basketball games.
Veteran basketball commentator Patrick Ng is the principal instructor for the course. Starting his career in 2006 with Hong Kong Cable Television as an NBA commentator, he has spent nearly 20 years covering events like FIBA tournaments, the Chinese Basketball Association, the East Asia Super League, and local leagues. He has also hosted sports programmes and live broadcasts of international events, connecting with athletes and establishing himself as a professional presenter and emcee.
