JC A-Connect: Jockey Club Autism Support Network

Diversity & inclusionEducation & learning

The Hong Kong Jockey Club provides holistic support for over 60% of mainstream school students living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to help improve their quality of life. We also strengthen the capability of parents and professionals to support their children with ASD.

Supporting students with ASD and their families

Due to the increasing number of students living with ASD in Hong Kong’s mainstream primary and secondary schools, the JC A-Connect: Jockey Club Autism Support Network (JC A-Connect), the first of its kind in the city, was launched in 2015 with an aim to provide holistic support for children with ASD at school, within their family, as well as among the wider community.

Since its launch, JC A-Connect has supported over 500 primary and secondary schools, helping parents and their children through 18 satellite centres and education programmes that raise public awareness and understanding about ASD.

Through an e-learning platform and professional training programmes, we strengthen the capacity of parents and professionals to support children with ASD. In particular, we have improved the way we offer early support to parents by adopting the World Health Organization’s Caregiver Skills Training Programme since 2018.

Due to JC A-Connect's effective execution, the government has regularised and implemented the project’s school-support services across mainstream schools in Hong Kong to support students with ASD, starting from the 2021/22 school year. We have also organised citywide public education initiatives, such as launching storybooks at the Hong Kong Book Fair that promote messages of social inclusion.
