The Jockey Club 'Enjoy Sports' Family Sports Day: Parenting in Motion

Published on 1 March 2025

The Hong Kong Jockey Cub “Enjoy Sports” Family Sports Day, co-organised by the Club and the Hong Kong Women Development Association (“HKWDA”), was successfully held on 1 March 2025 (Saturday). The event aimed to encourage parents and children to share the joy of sports, enhance parent-child interaction, and strengthen trust and cooperation among family members, thereby deepening family bonds. Over 350 participants, including kindergarten to primary students and their families, attended the event in a lively atmosphere filled with laughter.

The event featured a variety of dynamic and static activities, aligning with its theme. With the unwavering support of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team (“the CARE Team”), over 110 CARE volunteers participated in the event alongside their family and friends, assisting with game booth management, crowd control and stage performance. Participants enjoyed engaging in sports-themed games organised by the CARE Festive Squad, while the CARE Balloon Twisting Team created and distributed animal-shaped balloons, which were a huge hit. Designs like fish, horses, octopuses, and beetles captured the attention of many attendees. Their large stage decorations also attracted numerous participants for photo opportunities. Moreover, the CARE Painters added a vibrant vibe to the event by painting hearts and various sports games designs on participants' faces and hands. The CARE Band energised the ceremony with performances of Disney's "Try Everything" and the popular song "APT".

Additionally, the ceremony featured special guests, including Vivian Kong, former Hong Kong women's fencing athlete and Olympic gold medalist, Juanita Mok, Hong Kong Wushu athlete and Asian Games silver medalist, and dance star Det Dik, who served as event ambassadors. They led participants in a mass Tai Chi workshop and Hip-Hop dance session.

The Sports Day received support from many officiating guests, including Ip Shun-hing, Chairperson of the HKWDA; Tse Wing-hang, Chief Executive of the HKWDA; Yim Cheuk-hei, Acting District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong); Freely Cheng, the Club’s Head of External Affairs and Sally Tse, the Club’s Executive Manager of External Affairs. Members of the Tuen Mun District Council and the Yau Tsim Mong District Council also acted as officiating guests. This Sports Day served as a prelude to the 15th National Games, raising public awareness about the upcoming event.

Guests and participants expressed their appreciation for the Club 'Enjoy Sports' Family Sports Day. From storytelling and board game activities in the past to this year’s dynamic sports day, the CARE Team has actively promoted positive parent-child education, encouraged parents and children to grow together through diverse activities and fostered more harmonious family relationships.
