The Chinese New Year (CNY) fair has long been a tradition for people to buy flowers and other CNY goods in preparation for the festival, which carries the symbolism of family reunion. What’s more, it works to make a contribution to homeless animals. On 16 and 18 January 2023, CARE@hkjc organised CARE for Animals CNY Charity Fair in collaboration with four stray animal welfare partners to raise funds for abandoned animals and to promote the message of saying NO to animal abandonment to our colleagues.
Not only did the CARE Balloon Twisting Team decorate the venue with colourful balloons to create a fun CNY vibe, it put in great efforts in making CNY-themed balloons, including potted narcissuses, lucky tangerines, lucky cats and bunny god of wealth, for charity sale. CARE members also made some DIY pet collars for the fund-raising event.
The Fair attracted a large number of colleagues to make purchases and generous donations, with everyone agreeing that the lucky draw was the most exciting part of the event.
