On 17 June 2023, CARE volunteers supported the Dragon Boat Festival Elderly Visit organised by the Caritas Cheng Shing Fung District Elderly Centre (Sham Shui Po). Apart from distributing gift bags to singleton or doubleton elderly living in Sham Shui Po District, CARE volunteers chatted with the elderly in their homes during the home visit. By sharing festive blessings with the elderly, CARE volunteers were able to understand their living conditions and convey their needs to the centre.

The event was segmented into morning and afternoon sessions. Volunteers were divided into groups of two to four to conduct the home visits. More than 120 CARE volunteers visited approximately 200 households of the elderly. Despite the bad weather, CARE volunteers’ passion for serving the community was not dampened by the heavy rainstorms. With the aim of spreading care to the elderly, volunteers delivered gift bags, which included a rice dumpling, a towel teddy bear made by CARE volunteers and a pamphlet about positive emotions, and had interesting chats with them patiently.
