Let’s learn to play Taspony
Taspony skills are easy and simple to learn. Once you’ve grasped the basic skills, you can get started – all you need is a Taspony ball and a portable net and you can play on almost any playground or flat area. There are three basic skills in Taspony:
1. Serving
- Hold the ball in your non-dominant hand and face the diagonally opposite court. Stand with one foot in front of the other and knees slightly bent.
- The ball must be served from the baseline and must land within the lines of the diagonally opposite court.
- Drop the ball; and on the first bounce, hit it with your dominant hand.
2. Hitting
- Note that you should aim to hit the ball when it is near your knees.
- Keep your hand straight and your arm close to your body for an accurate and fast delivery.
3. Attacking
- Attack the ball to change the pace of the game and go on the offensive.
- Get in position by moving your legs to about shoulder-width apart. Slightly bend your knees and keep your toes pointing forward. Hold your hands in front of your chest.
- When attacking the ball, move the same hand and foot forward.
In fact, the popularity of Taspony is growing; and there are now many local and international competitions at which Hong Kong posts quite good results. Want to know more?
