CARE Volunteers Gather at Annual Appreciation Dinner to Celebrate Their Achievement
21/06/2018

The CARE Volunteers Appreciation Scheme was launched in 2009 to honour CARE members for their keen participation and their ongoing dedication to the community.  The latest Volunteers Appreciation Ceremony was held on 21 June at Happy Valley Racecourse, with CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges as the officiating guest. About 200 volunteers attended the ceremony and enjoyed the evening with CEO.

Balloon and Henna booths were set up at the venue. Balloon twisting services were provided by disabled people while henna was done by ethnic minority groups. Claw machines and photo booths were also available for guests before dinner. The annual dinner began with a performance by the CARE Cantonese Opera Team, which was established in 2015 and had been actively participating in various community services, and Cha Duk Chang Children's Cantonese Opera Association. Their energetic performance won much applause from the audience.

Before the award presentation ceremony, CEO gave a speech to thank the selfless act of all volunteers. "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your active participation in the CARE service programmes. Being the Club's most visible ambassadors, you are helping us to create valuable footprints across Hong Kong."

Since its establishment in 2005, the CARE Team has been actively serving those in need and providing a platform for the whole-person development of Club staff. In 2017, the CARE Team took part in more than 450 community activities and contributed a record high of over 16,000 community service hours in total. More than 400 CARE members were bestowed with appreciation certificates and 17 of them fell into the top award category for performing at least 150 hours of community services.

After the presentation ceremony, volunteers all enjoyed buffet dinner together. Some of the volunteers won fabulous lucky draw prizes and some showed off their singing skills during the karaoke session. The dinner ended with happy laughter.

Looking forward, the CARE Team will continue its efforts to spread the spirit of volunteerism across the city.
