CARE Volunteers Helped Kick Off 2018 Wan Chai Festival by Handing Out Goodie Bags

Wan Chai Festival was held every four years by the Wan Chai District Council to promote Wan Chai district, encouraged its residents to engage in community services and strengthened the connection of the residents through a series of activities.

 "Vitality・Love @ Wan Chai" Opening Ceremony was held on 8 July at Golden Bauhinia Square to kick start the 2018 Wan Chai Festival. The Club's Executive Director of Corporate Planning, Communications and Membership Scarlett Leung, and CARE volunteers attended the ceremony to show support. Ms Leung officiated at the kick-off ceremony with other guests , including the Secretary of Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah and the Deputy Director General of the Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Chen Xubin.

After the ceremony, more than ten vessels and two helicopters joined a parade off the coast of the square. Led by the Hong Kong Police Band, CARE volunteers and more than 200 district personalities dressed up and joined the land parade at the Square and the nearby waterfront area. After the Grand Sea, Land and Sky Parade, CARE volunteers took an open-top Big Bus to tour Wan Chai District and headed to Wong Nai Chung Road Crescent Garden, Lockhart Road Pedestrian Precinct and Tin Hau MTR Station to present goodie bags to residents who all enjoyed an afternoon in fun and happiness.
