Fluff Fridays Filled with Laughters
16/08/2019

The number of stray animals in Hong Kong has been increasing in recent years. These homeless and starved animals, which are either born on street, or abandoned by former owners, live a hard life on their own. With the help of some animal concern groups, some lucky ones are able to live in a shelter with food and warmth provided before they find a forever home. Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) is one of the major animal concern organisations. At present, HKDR is taking care of over 600 dogs in their Tai Po and Ap Lei Chau centres.

On 16 and 30 August, more than 40 CARE volunteers went to HKDR's Tai Po Centre to spend a happy Friday with dogs. Upon arrival, a staff member from HKDR introduced the background of the organisation to the volunteers.  After the introduction, volunteers formed a human chain to help transfer bricks and sandbags used for centre reconstruction. Volunteers then walked the dogs which spent most of their time in cages. Volunteers had a really fun time with dogs and filled the place with laughters. Even though carrying stuff has left them in sweats, they all agreed that the lively dogs had erased their worries and relaxed their mind.
