Balloon Team Brings EM Children, EM Mothers, ID Friends and the Elderly a Summer of Fun
09/09/2019

CARE balloon team had been very busy this summer, bringing joy to ethnic minorities (EM), people with intellectual disability (ID) and the elderly. In August 2019, CARE team visited YMCA Shek Kip Mei and Chai Wan Centre four times to lead group games and teach both local and EM children the skills of balloon twisting. Children were overjoyed with the little green man, crown and goldfish balloons they made. CARE team also teamed up with HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre to deliver balloon workshop to EM children and their mothers. The EM mothers attended four classes and learnt over ten balloon twisting styles which could hopefully trigger their interests in learning special skills and enhance their competitiveness.

Besides ethnic minorities, ID friends and the elderly are also our service targets. On 12 August, CRAE balloon team participated in Fu Hong Balloon Twisting Day to twist balloon with ID friends to spice up volunteer's regular visit. Moreover, CARE Chinese Opera Team joined hands with Balloon team to pay visit to Tsui Lam Day Care Centre for the elderly on 9 September. They shared a Chinese opera performance and twisted balloons with the elderly in hopes of bringing some festive spirits before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
