Walking Along With the Homeless Cats and Dogs
10/10/2019

In recent years, there is an increasing number of stray animals in Hong Kong that live a hard life on their own. Fortunately, some animal concern groups are actively lending their helping hands in safeguarding animal rights. The Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA) is one of them.

On 10 October, more than 20 volunteers went to SAA’s centre in Yuen Long and spent a joyful afternoon with the cats and dogs there. After a brief introduction of their background, staff member of SAA led the volunteers to visit the kennel and cat room. Hence, volunteers could form a better understanding of the living environment and condition of these animals. Volunteers then had some close interactions with the animals, for example brushing the cats and dogs gently, showing tender loving care. Volunteers also formed groups to walk the zestful dogs and enjoyed the fun moments. Under the joyful atmosphere, volunteers erased their worry and relaxed their mind temporarily, spending a pleasing time with the energetic cats and dogs.

By experiencing the daily caretaking of cats and dogs, it is hope that volunteers would keep a pet as a lifelong commitment, and hence spread the message of animal welfare protection.
