Hair Cutting for the Elderly to receive Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is one of the most important Chinese festival. It marks a new year on the lunar calendar and represents the desire for a new life. According to Chinese superstition, haircuts should be scheduled before The Chinese New Year begins.

Invited by Sai Kung District Office, CARE Hair Cutting Team joined Sai Kung youth ambassadors to visit Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service Mr & Mrs Lawrence Wong Second Lutheran Home for the Elderly in Tsuen Kwan O on 22th January, and provided hair cutting services to the elders. CARE Hair Cutting Team was formed in 2012 and now has 60 members. The team pays regular visit to elderly centres across the districts and provide free hair cutting services. On the day, over 60 elders received hair cutting services. They were very satisfied with the new hair styles ahead of the Chinese New Year. In addition, the team also shared the happiness with the seniors by delivering New Year songs, presenting CNY gifts and sharing various kind of Chinese cakes together etc.
