CARE Annual Appreciation Dinner 2020 to Celebrate CARE Team’s Milestone Achievement
29/06/2020

CARE Volunteers Appreciation Scheme was launched in 2009 to recognise CARE members for their keen participation in corporate volunteering. This year’s Volunteers Annual Appreciation Ceremony was held on 29 June at Happy Valley Racecourse. The Club’s management and CARE members got together and celebrated the Club’s win of the 8th Hong Kong Volunteer Awards and CARE’s team record-high service hours in 2019.

With the precautionary measures in place owing to COVID-19 pandemic, around 80 CARE members joined the ceremony and received recognition from the Club's Management with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges as the officiating guest.

Speaking at the ceremony, CEO expressed gratitude to CARE volunteers for their concerted effort in serving the community. He was proud of the Club receiving the 8th Hong Kong Volunteer Award (Corporate Award) organised by Agency for Volunteer Service in January 2020. “This is the first time for the Club to receive this highest honour and it absolutely would not have been possible without your dedication.”

In addition, CEO appraised CARE Team for reaching a new record of more than 17,000 service hours serving various vulnerable groups in the community last year. Apart from the services for ethnic minorities, the elderly, low-income families and mentally challenged persons, CARE Team launched new services in relation to animal welfare in 2019. Those new programmes met with enthusiastic response from CARE volunteers.

The presentation ceremony was followed by dinner and exciting lucky draw sessions. With some of the volunteers winning fabulous lucky draw prizes, the dinner ended in ripples of laughter. Looking ahead, the CARE Team will continue its efforts to spread the spirit of volunteerism across the city for the betterment of Hong Kong.
