ChariTea 2021 – Be Caring and Appreciative for Twelve Consecutive Years on the International Women’s Day
26/04/2021

Organised by the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (HKYWCA) and sponsored by the Club for twelve consecutive years, “ChariTea” programme aims to send blessings to women by distributing red-dates tea bags all over Hong Kong on the International Women’s Day (8 March). This year, we encouraged everyone to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ladies for taking care of their family with dedication and perseverance during the coronavirus outbreak and reminded people to remain caring and appreciative.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Club had continued to show its care to the community by not only sponsoring the programme, but also mobilising 70 CARE members to assist in packing red dates tea bags from 22 to 25 February. CARE team continued to demonstrate great teamwork and packed 35,000 pieces of tea bags to support the programme.

To protect the health and well-being of our volunteers, stringent public health precautionary measures were implemented during the service such as providing hand sanitiser and gloves to the volunteers and dividing them into small groups for packing.

In order to follow the government’s anti-epidemic measures and avoid crowd gathering, all tea bags prepared by CARE@hkjc would reach the hands of women, the elderly and low-income families through HKYWCA’s service centres, service network and its partners. It is hoped that the tea bags could act as a medium to spread the message of love and care to the community amid the pandemic.

In facing the challenge of combating the coronavirus, the Club would continue to care for the society by working with our community partners to support people in need.
