SPCA Pawstar Harbour Night – Building a Harmonious Pet-friendly Community
19/09/2021

Following the “SPCA Cat Festival”, CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team continued to support a carnival organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) – “Pawstar Harbour Night”. Being held from 17 to 19 September 2021 at the new pet-friendly hotspot, the Wan Chai Promenade, it was the first human-pet moon appreciation carnival in Hong Kong. With the aim of building a harmonious pet-friendly community, the carnival provided an opportunity for pet owners to enjoy the precious moments with their beloved pets along the promenade at the nights while celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival.

“Pawstar Harbour Night” was one of the SPCA’s 100th-anniversary programmes. CARE Team has been a consistent supporter of animal welfare and provided enthusiastic support to the carnival. In the three-day event, over 50 CARE volunteers joined the service with their families and friends. Apart from supporting the on-site logistics, including the operation of game booths, assisting in crowd control and the implementation of epidemic preventive measures, CARE volunteers also helped promote the message of kindness to animals. In addition, CARE Balloon Twisting Team made and distributed festival-themed balloons to the participants free of charge, which enriched the festive atmosphere of the carnival.
