To express the Club's appreciation for the wholehearted dedication of our volunteers over the past year, the CARE@hkjc volunteer team appreciation dinner was held on 30 June at Happy Valley Racecourse with Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges as an officiating guest. About 200 volunteers attended the celebration and received acknowledgement from the management while enjoying the debut performance of the Ukulele performance team by MT Community. The event concluded in joyful atmosphere.

Club senior management, including Leong Cheung, Executive Director of Charities and Community; Scarlette Leung, Executive Director of Corporate Planning, Communications and Membership; and Christoph Ganswindt, Executive Director of Information Technology and Sustainability, also joined the event to celebrate the achievement of the CARE Team. During the ceremony, Club CEO showed his appreciation for the devotion of the volunteers and their significant contribution in maintaining a close relationship with the community.

Since its establishment in 2005, the CARE Team has marked new high in both service hours and service frequency. In 2015, the Team clocked 14,000 community service hours and delivered about 400 times of services! Their dedication and commitment were recognised by the Social Welfare Department and won the Gold Award for Volunteer Service for the seventh consecutive year.

Under the Club's Volunteer Appreciation Scheme, more than 500 members were bestowed with appreciation certificates and sixteen of them fell into the top award category for performing at least 150 hours of community services. Retiree Anna Ning recorded a total of 389 service hours and received the Top Service Hour Award for the sixth consecutive year.

Followed by the establishment of MT Community in December 2015, the passionate group of young talents has been actively supporting community events, such as the Jockey Club Community Green Playground in the Hong Kong Flower Show 2016. To further enrich the format and add fun elements to volunteering work, the CARE Team was delighted to announce the launch of a new Ukulele Performance Team by MT Community. After months of training, the Team gave their debut performance during the ceremony to celebrate the volunteering spirit. During the ceremony, members of the MT Community asserted their readiness to join hands with the CARE Team in serving the community and sharing their musical talent with those in need.

Looking forward, the CARE Team will strive to maintain the momentum and encourage new members to join the group in spreading the spirit of volunteerism across the city.
