The CARE Volunteer Team used to support several flag day programmes organised by local community service organisations each year for raising fund for their operation. This year, the team for the first time supported the flag day of The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) which has received an overwhelming response. The activity attracted a total of 82 volunteers with their 43 family members or friends to join. This breaks the record of the CARE's team in supporting flag day programmes in terms of the number of people joining the event.
The SPCA's Flag Day is held on Saturday 23 July 2016 when the 125 volunteers helped to raise fund in seven locations including Wan Chai, Aberdeen, Kowloon Tong, Tsim Sha Tsui, Sha Tin, Tsuen Wanand Yuen Long. Each volunteer is awarded a certificate after the service and the fund raised on the day will be used for supporting the services of SPCA on protecting animal welfare. SPCA was first formed by a group of volunteers in 1903 and their major operations include "Animal Rescue and Cruelty Prevention", "Desexing of Animals" and "Adoption Services."
