To express the Club’s appreciation for the wholehearted dedication of our volunteers to serve the community over the past year, CARE@hkjc volunteer team appreciation dinner was held at Happy Valley Racecourse on 23 June. Great to have Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges as an officiating guest, about 200 CARE members together with distinguished guests from community partners enjoyed a night full of joy and laughter.
The dinner began with a performance by CARE Chinese Drum Performance Team, which was established in 2015 and has been actively participated in various community services. Their excellent performance was well received wining much applause from fellow CARE members and CEO who then came to the stage and posed for a picture.
During the ceremony, Club CEO thanked CARE members for generously giving their time, warmth and care without asking for reward. “I’d like to express my gratitude to all our volunteers for the hard work and big caring heart for the needy. We genuinely appreciate and value your commitment to volunteering with the Club”.
Since its establishment in 2005, CARE Team has been actively serving those in need and providing a platform for the whole-person development of Club staff. In 2016, CARE Team took part in more than 450 community activities and contributed over 135,000 hours of community service in total. More than 500 CARE members were bestowed with appreciation certificates and 17 of them fell into the top award category for performing at least 150 hours of community services.
Dedication and commitment by CARE Team were also recognised by the Social Welfare Department. It has won the Gold Award for Volunteer Service in the Organisation Category for eight consecutive years.
Looking forward, the CARE Team will continue its efforts to spread the spirit of volunteerism across the city.
