"Give Me Five" Food Bank Programme Brings Love and Care to the Community for the Fifth Year
06/07/2019

CARE volunteers supported "Give me Five" Food Bank Programme for five consecutive years in a row. Organised by Hong Kong Women Development Association (HKWDA) and fully supported by the Club, "Give Me Five" Food Bank Programme aims at providing temporary food assistance to new immigrants, underprivileged families and elders living in the New Territories as well as spreading love and care to them.

This year, over 150 CARE volunteers participated in the programme and paid visits to about 220 families in Sheung Shui, Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O and Tin Shui Wai from March to July.

The closing ceremony was held on 6 July in Tin Shui Wai. Officiating guests included the Club's Head of External Affairs Eddie Poon, Chairlady of HKWDA Ms Ip Shun-hing, District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long) Ms Diana Chu and Assistant District Officer (Yuen Long) Ms Joanna Poon. In addition to the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the volunteers, CARE members Ms Michelle Tang and Mr Stanley Chung shared their experience and joy of helping others during the visits in the ceremony. They all agreed that they gained better insights into the daily struggles of the underprivileged, and the experience was very fulfilling.
