Caring SEN Students on YWCA Family Fun Day
26/05/2021

In line with its commitment to the community and continuous development, the Club had sponsored a new YWCA programme supporting students with special education needs (SEN) and their parents amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A Family Fun Day was held to conclude the programme on 2 May at the YWCA Jockey Club Social Service Building.

The Family Fun Day began with an energetic performance by CARE Chinese Drum Team which won much applause from the audience.

Among the various interactive booths at the venue, the CARE Performance Teams ran a Chinese Drum exploration booth and provided balloon twisting services. Around 70 CARE volunteers took part to facilitate different sessions of the event and spent a delightful day with some 80 SEN families.

During the event, CARE members encouraged the SEN students in various interactive activities with their parents, such as playing Chinese drums and making balloon figures, aimed to strengthen the parent-child relationships. The students experienced the care and friendship of CARE volunteers who in return learnt more about their needs and realised the importance of helping them to integrate into the community.

The event ended with joy and laughter.  YWCA presented the Club with a souvenir as a token of appreciation for the selfless act of all volunteers. ''Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we don't have the chance to take part in an event like this with our children. Thanks to CARE team, we feel the love and inclusion in our society. This means a lot to us!'', a participating parent said.
