With a view to fostering social integration with people from diverse races and background, CARE team supported the HKJC Multi-Cultural Festival, a large-scale social inclusion programme organised by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, on 2 October at the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong - Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village. A total of 45 CARE volunteers took part in the event and spent a delightful day with some 400 ethnic minority members (EM) and local participants.
The Festival offered a wide array of activities which cultivated a socially-inclusive environment, facilitating interaction among participants of different ethnicities. Apart from workshops and game booths showcasing South Asian culture, music and arts, Hong Kong’s Kabaddi Team representatives and Cricket Team members were invited to provide experimental workshops and introduce the sports that EM youth like most to the participants.
In addition, to support the theme of cultural integration, the CARE Chinese Drum Team staged an opening performance in the event’s kick off ceremony and conducted a Chinese Drum workshop, while the Balloon Twisting Team were deployed to distribute fun twisted balloons which drew lots of smiles and laughter from the children.
