All Categories Staff Volunteer Activities About the Trust

TWGHs “iRun” The Hong Kong Jockey Club Special Marathon (iRun), funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club's Charities Trust and organised by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs), took place along the Central and Western District Promenade on 8 January 2023. Around 25 CARE volunteers participated in the event serving as pair-up runners or on-site helpers to promote healthy living and social inclusion.

The CARE team has been supporting iRun since 2012. With the aim of encouraging people with different abilities to exercise more, 10 volunteers paired up with those with intellectual disabilities from TWGHs Ho Yuk Ching Workshop in a 3 km this year to share the joy of running. Pre-race training sessions were organised for paired participants to get to know each other for better bonding and partnership. Team spirit was fully demonstrated on the day of race.

Apart from being pair-up runners, around 15 CARE volunteers also provided on-site logistics support to the event and facilitated the smooth running of the race and ceremony to promote social inclusion.
