The Wishing Square in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, New Territories was once again a popular destination for Hong Kong people as the Hong Kong Wishing Festival resumed after a three-year suspension. In the morning of 26 January 2023 (the Fifth day of Chinese New Year), CARE Team joined together with the ethnic minorities students and their parents in “HK Well Wishing Festival – Hong Kong Jockey Club Chinese New Year Celebration for All”, where they lighted lotus lanterns and threw the placards onto the wishing tree to set goals for the New Year. Volunteers also shared the traditional Chinese New Year cultural stories with the participants and custom such as giving out red packets and burning firecrackers opened their eyes.

During the event, the participants were able to learn more about Chinese culture, which facilitated their integration into the Hong Kong society. "It was a fun and meaningful cultural exchange. Chinese New Year is a festive celebration for all people living in Hong Kong, no matter what ethnicity you belong to," the volunteers shared.
