All Categories Staff Volunteer Activities About the Trust

The 26th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships (Championships) was held in Hong Kong from 8 to 18 January 2023 by the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress (HKTBC). To promote the sports to the community, the Club sponsored and supported a series of community activities organised by HKTBC.

With the support of 40 volunteers from the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team (CARE Team), over 70 Ethnic Minority (EM) students from the CARE Team’s district partners including Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Children & Youth Services, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre and Multicultural Ethnic-Link Teen Centre were invited to take part in one of the Championships community activities - the bowling demonstration and coaching session conducted by Hong Kong National Squad on 2 January 2023. Most of the EM participants experienced bowling for the first time with curiosity. In addition to enjoying the sports with the guidance of the athletes and sharing from the CARE volunteers, they were also competing with each other in teams. The activity ended in a cheerful atmosphere with everyone having fun and sharing laughter together!

To learn more about the upcoming local sports venues and further experience the Championships, some 20 EM students, accompanied by the Club’s Management Trainee volunteers, joined a tour to the Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) Experience Centre, which will serve as an urban oasis to meet the diverse needs of the public, as well as professional and amateur athletes. They also watched the Championships with international bowling athletes competing at the Bowling Centre of South China Athletic Association on 14 January 2023. Witnessing the live outstanding performance with graceful postures and a strike “all knocked” in succession, the EM participants were excited and gave a big round of applause. After the tour, they expressed their wishes to play bowling with their parents and friends at KTSP in the near future!
