The “ChariTea” programme organised by Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) enters its 14th anniversary in 2023. It also marks the 14th consecutive year for the Club to support the programme. “Fuel yourself with YWCA free red-date tea” is the theme of this year, which aims to encourage the public, particularly women, to exercise more and stay fit. The distribution of free red-date tea bags was eventually resumed this year after three-year suspension due to the pandemic.
As the Honorary Sponsor of the programme, the Club not only made a donation, but also mobilised the volunteer team to facilitate the implementation. To begin with, some 100 CARE@hkjc volunteers came together to successfully pack over 50,000 red-date tea bags, which are particularly good for women’s health, at the headquarters of YWCA between 20 and 24 February 2023. In the morning of International Women’s Day (8 March 2023), together with their family members and friends, over 100 CARE@hkjc volunteers distributed the red-date tea bags to the citizens in five districts, including Wan Chai, Wong Tai Sin, Sha Tin, Tai Wai and Tin Shui Wai, sending the warmest blessing to women and encouraging the public to care more for women.
The Club’s Head of External Affairs Eddie Poon and Executive Manager (External Affairs) Freely Cheng also supported the distribution in action. With physical distribution resumed in the community after three years, the volunteers were thrilled with beautiful bright smiles. Some ladies that received the red-date tea bags shared they had supported the programme for a long time and was thankful for the tea bags prepared by the Club and YWCA again.
