The 2023 Hong Kong International Track Cup, organised by the Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China, was held at Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O from 26 to 28 May 2023. Classified as a Class 1 Competition by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the event attracted international top track cyclists to travel to Hong Kong to compete for World Ranking Points for World Championships. To promote cycling sports to the community, the Club funded and supported a series of community activities.
With the support of 30 CARE volunteers, around 100 Ethnic Minority (EM) students and their family members from CARE district partners including the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Children & Youth Services and the ISSHK Hope Centre were invited to take part in the community activities joining the guided tours conducted by professional coaches on the three days respectively.
Apart from learning about the track cycling sport and the game rules of different race events during the guided tours, the participants also had the opportunity to ride on the track bike to gain the first-hand experience of track cycling. In the company of CARE volunteers, the EM students were excited to watch the exhilarating races at the Velodrome and experience the atmosphere of international races at close range while cheering for the athletes.
